When I'm evaluating a patient for invisalign I'm not just looking at their teeth but in instead evaluating their whole face. I look at the face shape, profile, nose, lip size and position to determine the best treatment. In order to decide the correct position of the teeth to best suit the face, I look to balance all the facial structure in harmony. We never want to over retract teeth as the lip support will not be optimal thus making the lips too thin and this also creates a larger mid face or nose. If we don't retract enough then the lips may protrude too much and this can make the chin look weak. Balancing the teeth with the face takes a trained eye for orthodontics and also facial esthetics. Come visit us at Align Dental and we will do a free orthodontic and facial analysis.
